Amar in Berlin

I have known this restaurant for more than 6 years and can only recommend it to everyone. The food and service as well as the atmosphere are excellent. I now live about an hour away and always enjoy coming back here.

Friendly and fast for those who collect them themselves. An extra naan was included for free. Very exemplary: the bill was handed over without being asked ... Unfortunately, the sadhu in the neighborhood does not offer this service!

We got to know Amar by chance during the last lockdown in March through an order service. Because we were so satisfied, we went to the restaurant regularly in the summer, even though it is further away. But the journey was always worth it. Now that we have to be delivered again, we always look forward to the excellent, subtly seasoned and high-quality food at fair prices. The food delivered actually tastes just as good as it does on site in the restaurant, something you don't often find. Absolute recommendation!

I have really been enjoying the food from Amar's during this ongoing lockdown. The taste is not repetitive, quantity is sufficient. It's a welcoming change to try "non germanized" indian food. Scharf does indeed mean scharf :)

The food was very tasty, the prices okay, but one of the restaurants during Corona times that don't necessarily adhere to regulations. No contact details were recorded, only a few of the staff wore a mask and if so, only under their chin. Should work better at the moment!

The only restaurant is Berlin having authentic indian cuisine according to me. Always a treat having food here.

Very tasty, atmospheric place, good staff. The company took 4 dishes and tried everything. It seemed before that Indian cuisine was not to our liking, but this place changed the opinion of our modest company) If you want to taste something new and think Indian cuisine isn't for you this place will change your opinion.

Just really awesome place. Absolutely delicious food with big portions and very nice stuff. All of my company 4.pers got excited! 🤩 Got lamm in cream sauce, tandoori, also butter chicken.

UNACCEPTABLE. After waiting 90 minutes, I called a first time to know where my phone is. I was told to wait, and that the food will be here in 10-15. After 120min I called again, and was todl the same thing. LIES. I called 4 times in total within 2,5 hours and was repeatedly lied the same thing to. The food NEVER came. I want my money back !

One thing you at least expect from a restaurant with 4 star reviews on google is good service, which turned out to be absolutely horrendous. Upon complaining about the quality of food the waiter (Imran) came up with a rather laughable argument and said 'this is not a 5 star restaurant'. Further, his attitude was so abysmal that we had to complain to the manager and while we were complaining imran showed up there to threaten us. Even after all this the manager did nothing. It was an appalling experience and I would suggest to save yourself the trouble and not go to a restaurant that has mediocre food and tremendously bad attitude towards the customers.

We ordered online, waited for the for 4 hours and never got what we paid for

This is the worst indian restaurant ever i tried in berlin. The service staff is so worst i would like to name of the kellener IMRAAN. He was so disrespectful and argued with us. I will not recommend to go there. POOR SERVICE.

Been here 2 times this week: food is very delicious and the service has been very generous and kind. Imran (waiter) was super friendly and made us want to come back. Very much recommended.

Ok Service was not the best

Ordered the chicken biryani and Lamb Vindaloo. I've gotta say not the best I've had, food was quite bland which is very weird for Indian food. Just didn't really taste like much. Gotta say it was delivered really early though so that got a star and the guy who delivered got another star, he was really friendly seeing as I was a tourist and slightly messed up my delivery address!

In a nutshell: the food was delicious, the service genuinely friendly, the premises cozy and clean, fast service and delicious and cheap cocktails. Very enthusiastic and full!

Food is nothing special, service is just..sorry..disgusting. Never had such a bad behaviour of a waiter and service, can't get over it how this guy treats customers. The waiter was from the start behaving wired and than he threw hot food over my friends shirt, shorts, legs, shoes and did not even help to clean or say sorry ONCE. The hot sauce burned the skin. At the end shouting at us that we have to pay. As we wanted to speak the manager he was even lying to us that he was the manager.

Service was poor and odd from the start, culminating to waiter, who later turned out to be the manager, dropping boiling hot dish on my lap. Never received a proper apology and they did try to charge us when leaving, even though we had agreed twice the meal was free of charge. Do yourself a favor and don’t go there, Berlin is full of nicer and better restaurants.

After waiting almost two hours for delivery, I got an unseasoned butter chicken. Tastes good. Hardly got anything down and disposed of most of it.

Very tasty, but overall a little more expensive since the renovation. We paid 35 EUR for 2 vegetarian dishes + tea for 2 people. It used to be cheaper!

We only drank cocktails there. These were delivered quickly. Although the restaurant was well attended due to its outdoor seating. And despite the small order on our part, we received a free snack - good taste. Oh yes ......... the cocktails were really cheap. Left behind a feeling of: It was also saved on alcohol. In terms of taste, they were good. Service staff were friendly and attentive.

I placed an order here over Lieferando and it showed 50 mins waiting time. When I placed the order, the waiting time changed to 1 hour 50 mins. So I called Restaurant Amar on the phone to cancel my order. Restaurant Amar assured me that its a technical glitch and the order will be delivered in 50 mins, and that's why there is no need to cancel the order. The order arrived in 2 hours - the restaurant did not let me cancel my order and lied to me about the waiting time.

Food looks good and tastes good too! Very friendly service. Can recommend it with a clear conscience.

I went here for an early lunch with my Mom. We were craving for Indian food and were in the area. The location is a plus point for Amar, there are plenty of cool restaurants, coffee shops and stores around that embody the Berlin vibe and make the area lively and interesting. If it wasn't for the online reviews we might have missed it, just because the dark wooden interior doesn't pop out during the day time. Once inside the detailing and lighting is quite lovely. Combined with some Indian music the atmosphere is chill, but nice enough for a date (or have some quality time with your parents ;) ). The service was good - straight forward, friendly, attentive and helpful and (at least) tri-lingual. The complimentary welcome drink was fresh and delicious, the waiting time between meals absolutely reasonable (more on the short side) and the food nicely presented. The lamb vindaloo and masala prawns were equally tasty and we were also happy with our Indian and fresh ginger tea. Big ups for the sauces! There was a variety and it added to the experience. Understanding that food might be adjusted to German taste, it was easily remedied to have food spicier and adjusted by simply asking for a more regional authentic version. Easy! As some other reviews already highlight, the portions are generous. We asked for take-away and it is so nicely wrapped and packed, that we are looking forward for our second helping tomorrow. Thanks Amar, for the lovely experience and a great memory worth having.

The Amar is a great restaurant with a variety of Indian dishes that taste very good and are prepared with love. There is a small "sparkling wine" to greet you and a shot to say goodbye. The staff is always friendly and card payments and paying separately were no problem. The atmosphere was very pleasant, but there is a lot going on at the Schlesische Straße location and you have to like that, but of course there is also the opportunity to sit inside.

I really enjoyed it at Amar. The food was excellent, the service very attentive and courteous. The ambience has a calm, harmonious atmosphere.

Very tasty if you like Indian food. Staff was also very friendly. Toilets were clean cards and cash payment possible! 😁

Chicken mango and lassi were delicious, chicken was so soft that it just melted in my mouth, fast service, payment can be done with cash and cards.

Food delivered was not fresh, had a weird taste, bread undercooked and smashed. Worst of all, it gave me and my partner food poisoning. I ordered same dish before and it tasted completely different.

I personally cannot recommend the restaurant, we were very disappointed. We were there in August 2019 with 4 people, we were cleared very quickly, everything had to go quickly, it was not a cozy evening, other guests were probably waiting outside. The food was okay, but not a second time. The restaurant lives in my opinion from the tourists, I do not think that there are really regular guests. We agreed that we would not recommend the restaurant.

Ordered food from here - came vacuumed packed like a ready meal from a super market, tasted even worse than that. Not sure if its because now are extra busy times or what as when I have walked past outside before it has smelled great. Anyways would not go back again and wouldn't recommend it. Very friendly staff though

I love the fact that in this place not only food is Indian but also decor, music and staff. It makes the restaurant consistent and really atmospheric. We've spent there awesome time with delicious food and coctails (which are in a good price after 9 p.m.) and we were served by kind and helpful waiters. Be aware that you can pay only in cash here, but there is an ATM on the same street. I absolutely recommend Amar.

To be honest the food was very mediocre and briyani...god they need to check out how it is made...we ordered briyani and got not that nicely cooked riced mixed with chicken..shrimps were smelling foul..have had pretty aweful experiences with indian restaurants in germany but this one in ost berlin tops the list...well service was ok...they really need to double check their cook...waste of money....wont recommend at all

Enormous portions, loads of vegetarian options, tasty food, average prices.

ok food, but the customer service was completely terrible. i ordered food online and 1.5 hours later finally called them to ask where it was. they said it was my fault for not putting my international area code in front of my phone number on my order despite the fact that i have successfully ordered from Amar before numerous times and never had to put my area code on my order. the man on the phone proceeded to scream at me and told me to apologize to them for their inability to properly deliver my food. i have never experienced customer service like this before, and for someone who has worked many years in the restaurant industry i can say this is NOT how you should run a business. I am very disappointed and will certainly never order from Amar again.
